10th of November 2011

On our 5th session, our teacher looked through his email and checked whether we have sent him our application form for the job interview in two weeks time.it is necessary that we  send via email our completed application form to our tutor to be able to complete this module.

The application should be done by the end of the day because otherwise we are free to go and fail he's module. All of the tasks sheets from 1-11, activities and application form are due next week. Anyone who will fail to complete all of these are free to go and do not bother come to lesson again.

Moving forward, we have looked at Jay's slide show presentation on how to create a perfect, attractable and very professional CV. Our tutor discussed this to us and separated the girls and boys to be able to know who's smartest in memorizing  all we've learned in creating a CV. There was a test in Jay's slide show and every questions it gives you three options of answer. After saying your answer, it will reveal whether you're right or wrong. This was a very good exercise in mind as kept us awake and excited towards the result.
Watching this video is very helpful to those people who will go for an interview. It tells you a lot about how to prepare yourself for the interview day; to be able to do all things right and organized; prevents hustle on the day. Being organized and prepared build you confidence.

3rd of November 2011

Back to College now after 1 week of half term and this is our 5th session in this module. Today, Jay checked with us whether we have completed all our the tasks sheets from 1-10 before moving on to the next task sheet. He also reminded us to send and finish the application form that will be a very important document that we will use in our job interview in 3 weeks time ( module concerns).
Task 11...

This video tells me what are my rights as an applicant. Before the interview day I must consider that they will ask question regarding on the information that I have put on my application form. Therefore, I need to practice and review what I have written there and my rights as an applicant. Being able to know what are unnecessary questions from my employer to ask will help me prevent on discrimination as it is against the law.

20th October 2011

We are on our 4th session now and the tasks we need to do are to identify our SMART targets and complete task sheet 8 till 11. We have been asked to sit in pairs and interview each other towards our academic, personal and career goals. This was very helpful to us as this enabled us to identify our goals of different areas in our life. In this task Patsy Jane was my partner and we both interviewed and told each other our short, medium and long term goals. This is also a preparation for us in completing tasks sheets 8-10.

13th of October, 3rd session of Manging Professional Development

We are on the third session for the Managing Professional Development and it seems have organized all of the stuffs needed to start the assignments.

Firstly, Jay (our teacher in this session) checked we have made our blogs for him from the last 2 sessions and then we start to talk about different ways of people for learning. We have discussed the ways people do in terms of studying; there are people who wants to be alone in a peaceful room and read all the stuffs needed to be revised, there are some who wants music at the background while revising and there are just multitask people that can do 2 or more things including revision at a time.

This video tells me how to revise very well and be organized with my stuffs for school to prevent complications on the things that needs to be done. Being organized will help me a lot to be on track; e.g. I will have a folder and put everything that needs to be done in it; home works and notes.

Also, we have taken up a quiz named Vark Questionnaire that enables us to know what are we as learners. The result has shown that I am a reading and writing type of person; a person who's more on reading instruction than asking someone how to do a certain task. This is a really interesting and intriguing quiz as it was accurate on its most of results on my classmates and I. This is a must recommend if you are unsure of what kind of learner you are because in my own opinion, it is better to know what you really are to be able to know how to do or solve  things right.

6th of October Session

In this session there are quite few things we have done; firstly, we made sure that we have everything that should be done last session: install the drop box, make a hot mail and create folders in it (to be more organized for example; assignment 1 and 2) and blog (Jay double checked if we all have our own blogs for his subject and posted our sessions already; he has done this to be able to remind the others that haven't done the blog for them to keep on track).

I felt overwhelmed as all of us are helping each other as we complete the task given. One another asks whether they have done the task or whether they needed some help. We make a very good team in this session because the teacher can not help 3 or 4 students at a time therefore other students that have done or knows what to do on the tasks given help the one needed some help; this makes us all to be on track and prevent procrastination in sessions.

When everyone's hot mail, blog and drop box are sorted we have started to do the task 2-6 which helped us to know more about our capabilities, skills and knowledge:

  • What are our qualification base
  • Work experience we have
  • Our interests
  • Our strengths
  • Our Weaknesses
Filling  these up make me realize what skills and knowledge I have and what areas needed improvement.

Knowing my skills, abilities and qualifications is very helpful for a job interview. I will share this job interview to be say that being confident is what an employers are seeking for but mix it with arrogant and improper behavior will take you nowhere. Enjoy watching!

Managing Professional Development on the 29th of September 2011

We had our first lesson by Jay Glover (Managing Professional Development) in the Computer room as we needed to be able to complete the task that will be given. He introduces his self in the class as we all expected for the first lesson and had a little bit of a laugh. After the introduction he has given us very useful resources to get all our courseworks organized. He first told us a little bit about the course then given us copy of how to create a hotmail that is visible between the student and Jay only. Having a College 'hot mail' is efficient to all of the student of higher education as it helps us alot to be organize. In my own point of view it keeps me motivated because I am able to see what I have done so far and what else needs to be done. This is also a way for my teacher to see if I am on track or not. For example; It took a while before I created this blog, therefore, my teacher 'Jay' emailed me and reminded me that I have to post a blog every session.Secondly, he asked us to create a blog site each where we have to post a blog every session for 'Managing Professional Development'. Posting a blog for every session keeps my mind active and practices my brain cells; this is very helpful as it prevents me to be forgetful. Also, having a blog and posting each session I had enables me to refresh my memory especially when the exam comes; I can always check my blog and it will show me which area of the course they have covered so that I know what to revise most. He has taught us how to put picture, email and video on the Blog that we are posting.

This was me when we started the lesson. But, I've been energetic after we had a little break and because Jay was funny and giving us very useful and interesting sources.

When still had time left from my break I have visited and youtube and had a glance of watching this fantastic digimemo pad. It enables you to transfer all your hand writings on your computer.

Lastly, I emailed Jay a short message for him to be able to send the drop box site. The dropbox site is where I can save all my files; it is the best replacement of a pen drive. I can never lose it; this is very useful especially if I am in a hurry and forgotten my USB. I don't want to take a risk especially on the due date of the courseworks because I know that if failed to show any assignments on the due date; they will deduct 10% off my mark when I submit my work 24 hours late and I will fail if I will give it later than 24 hours.

Just want to share this cute video with you Jay! hope it will make your day.see you!
